Employee Compensation

Paramedics: $22.50 per hour
EMTs (Basic): $18.50 per hour
Responders (First Responders, typically firefighters): $15.00 per hour
Retirement Benefits: IRA plan with a 4% employer match
Paid Time Off (PTO) Available
Tuition Assistance for EMS Training

If someone is interested in becoming an EMT but does not yet have credentials, we offer tuition assistance in exchange for service hours after certification.

Available Positions

While we may not always have open positions, we are always looking for qualified candidates for the following roles:

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic)

Responsibilities:

Provide basic life support (BLS) care to patients in emergency situations.
Assist paramedics in stabilizing and transporting patients to medical facilities.
Respond to 911 calls and provide emergency medical assistance.

Minimum Requirements:

National EMT Certification
Approval from OSF St. James EMS Office
Ability to lift and transport patients safely.

Paramedic (ALS Provider)

Responsibilities:

Provide advanced life support (ALS), including IV therapy, medication administration, and advanced airway management.
Respond to life-threatening medical emergencies and provide critical care during transport.
Collaborate with hospitals, fire departments, and public safety agencies.

Minimum Requirements:

State of Illinois Paramedic License
National Registry Paramedic Certification (Preferred)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
Experience in high-pressure emergency situations.

First Responder (Volunteer Role)

Responsibilities:

Provide immediate care before EMS units arrive.
Assist EMTs and paramedics at the scene of an emergency.
Participate in ongoing training and education.

Minimum Requirements:

Certified First Responder or Firefighter Training
Willingness to assist EMS teams during emergencies.
